Monel Alloy 400 is widely used in marine applications. While alloy 400 products exhibit very low corrosion rates in flowing seawater, stagnant conditions have been shown to induce crevice and pitting corrosion. Alloy 400 is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking and pitting in most fresh and industrial waters.
Monel Alloy K500 retains the excellent corrosion resistance characteristic of 400 and with mechanical strength enhanced and hardness hardening, approximately 3 times on yield strength and 2 times on tensile strength
Applications of Monel Plug Valves
Generally, Monel valves can be used in the most demanding alkylation applications such as HF service. Monel valves are often used as chemical valves, petrochemical valves, desalination valves, shipbuilding valves, oil and gas valves, medical valves, and oxygen valves.
When Monel Plug Valves are applied in HF service, low emission, and double gland seal design is preferable and after installation, valves must be painted with caution paint, which is acid-base indicator (also known as pH indicators) are substances that change color with pH.
