Baja super austenitik bersifat amagnetik dan memiliki kemampuan las yang baik serta sifat mampu bentuk yang sangat baik.
Baja tahan karat besi-nikel-kromium paduan tinggi yang mengandung molibdenum telah dikembangkan untuk merespons spesifikasi korosi yang parah.
Baja tahan karat super austenitik menunjukkan ketahanan yang baik terhadap korosi lubang klorida dan korosi celah karena kandungan molibdenum yang tinggi (>6%) dan penambahan nitrogen, dan kandungan nikel yang lebih tinggi memastikan ketahanan yang lebih baik terhadap retak akibat korosi dibandingkan seri 300. Baja ini mendekati kinerja paduan berbasis nikel yang sangat tahan korosi dengan biaya yang jauh lebih rendah.
