In der chemischen Industrie wird Tantal wegen seiner Korrosions- (insbesondere Schwefelsäure) und Temperaturbeständigkeit verwendet. Bei Temperaturen unter 150 °C ist es praktisch unempfindlich gegen den chemischen Angriff von Säuren.

With excellent chemical properties and high corrosion resistance, tantalum valves do not react to hydrochloric acid, concentrated nitric acid under cold and hot conditions, and will not be corroded by concentrated sulfuric acid below 150°C temperature. Tantalum valve is used more and more widely because of its little corrosion and long life in strong corrosive environment.
